Obtaining technical specifications

Obtaining technical conditions for connection of a consumer object to the supply network is a necessary step in organising its power supply. The technical conditions, as the name implies, contain a list of certain actions that must be performed to organise the connection. These actions may be of a practical, theoretical or even legal nature. It is in the customer's interest that the list of conditions be as short as possible and that their fulfilment take as little time as possible - thereby reducing financial losses.
The optimal solution is to seek the assistance of specialists who thoroughly know all the nuances of obtaining the required technical specifications.

How it's done

The specifications shall contain the following points:
  • exact location of the object - indicating the official address or geographical coordinates;
  • type of facility - industrial, municipal, administrative and domestic, etc.;
  • power supply requirements - maximum total power consumption, voltage class of the power grid, category of power supply reliability;
  • requirements for electrical equipment to be installed for connection to a particular supply network;
  • other technical aspects that require precise definitions,
and also
  • a general plan of the facility indicating the point(s) of connection to the supply network and,
  • which is particularly important from a legal point of view - data on the boundary of balance belonging, i.e. areas of responsibility: in the "own" area, the customer carries out all repair and maintenance work at his own expense, outside it - the grid company, the direct supplier of electricity.
To obtain technical specifications, a package of documents is submitted to the grid company, including an application for connection, technical calculations, completed forms of various kinds, copies of title, authorisation and other documents for the facility, etc.

Why it is advantageous to engage professionals

The main "pitfall" in carrying out work to organise power supply to the facility is the relationship with the grid company. The grid company, like any commercial organisation, aims to increase its own profit. Any services provided to it are paid for - even before the actual electricity supply begins.
"Consulting" services, multiple additional approvals, provision of in-house specialists for allegedly necessary adjustments to project documentation, constant monitoring of all stages of technical specifications fulfilment - this is not a complete list of what the grid company can impose on the customer.
Unreasonably excessive requirements for electrical equipment, for power lines or cable routes from the connection point to the facility, etc. may be used as a pressure tool, but it may be difficult to prove the technical unreasonableness of such requirements. - but the technical unreasonableness of such requirements may be difficult to prove.
Professionals who have sufficient experience in dealing with representatives of various network companies will always have reasonable arguments to defend the interests of the customer.
In addition,
  • the customer will be assisted in collecting the necessary documents, filling in all required forms and forms, and preparing an application for connection to the power grid;
  • the required power will be calculated;
  • search for available connection options;
  • selection of a network company with optimal capabilities and adequate requirements;
  • any disputable issues concerning the connection point, delimitation of balance belonging, etc. will be settled with the grid company in the interests of the customer;
  • drawing up and signing of all technical and legally significant documents will be strictly controlled.
